Honu Sea Turtle Sticker

Honu (Chelonia mydas), or green sea turtles, are charismatic marine reptiles that have been around since the age of the dinosaurs!

Honu are primarily herbivorous and love to enjoy a bite of limu (algae) or seagrass as they cruise across the reef. Hawaiʻi is one of the only places in the world where you can see a sea turtle “basking,” when they come ashore to rest and regulate their body temperature. They can often be seen taking a nap on the beach, and should not be disturbed while they bask.

If you are lucky enough to see a honu in the wild, please appreciate them from a distance. Touching, feeding, or disturbing honu disrupts their natural behavior and can put them at risk.
