Sandy Hawaiian Monk Seal Sticker

Hawaiian monk seals are one of the most endangered marine mammals in the world, with only about 1500 individuals left. They are endemic to the Hawaiian archipelago, which means they are found no where else in the world. Most of the remaining population lives in Papahānaumokuākea Marine National Monument, which protects the uninhabited Northwestern Hawaiian Islands. Only an estimated 400 individuals are found in the main Hawaiian islands. 

When resting on sandy beaches, Hawaiian monk seals sometimes like to bury their heads in the sand, which is where the inspiration for this sticker came from. They are adorable to observe when resting on the beach, and if you are lucky enough to see one, be sure to give them plenty of space!
